A couple of weeks ago I decided I needed to challenge myself and head outside of the studio. I work from a basement studio so there really isn’t the opportunity to utilise natural light in my regular shoots.
And to be honest the studio is totally my comfort zone – I like knowing what my lighting is capable of and that for the most part I have my favourite few set ups that I regularly use, which try to emulate natural light.
So I roped in a couple of people to wander around the Annex one evening and make use of a couple of sqaure blocks to get a few different backdrops.
I started shooting around 6:30pm and the sun was still quite high. A storm front was rolling in later on in the evening so the sun was pretty diffused with high frontal cloud. Ideally I wanted to be really challenged by the lighting so that I could have some tricky situations to work out but I got that a couple of weeks later.
First up was Max – the shots I loved most of Max were taken in an alleyway with a lot of street art.
