Well 2013 has really flown by – it seems each year goes faster and faster. This was our first full year in Canada so we got to experience our first full winter, a less than stellar summer, a late late summer in early autumn and a freezing whit-ish Christmas.
Our house was one of the 300,000 affected in the ice storm that hit Toronto just prior to Christmas, so everything pretty much went on hold for 4 days while we tried to stay warm, keep the phones charged. Eventually our building was shut down on Christmas Eve to stop the pipes freezing and exploding so there was a desperate last minute search for pet friendly hotels 🙂
Luckily all is well in our little household and we returned on Boxing Day. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas with friends (as we did), with family (blood or urban) and ate too much food, drank too much alcohol and generally had fun.
This year has been an interesting one for me, spending the end of last year unhappily unemployed, the first 8 months of 2013 unhappily employed and since September happily devoting my time to my creative pursuits in photography. I am super looking forward to 2014, showing some new portraiture work, some more burlesque happenings and hopefully some more charitable endeavours. I encourage everyone to make 2014 a year that you have photos taken that you have printed so that they don’t lie idle on your hard drives, laptops or PC’s. These photos need to be seen, loved and treasured.
To everyone who I have had the pleasure of interacting with, whether it is online, in person at a show or one on one during a shoot – thank you for making 2013 a fantastic year and I look forward to more of the same in 2014
