Earlier this year my Facebook page hit the 1000 like milestone and lucky number 1000 who won a complimentary portrait shoot was Ottawa drag king Master Cameron Eric Leon.
Master Cameron has had quite a year after his drag king debut which saw him take out Mr Capital Pride 2014.
I first heard about Master Cameron after his performance at Toronto World Pride 2014. And then I first saw him perform at Cuppa Teas, where he integrated his own impressive vocals into his performances.

So in October we got together and came up with the following images
This shot I loved the idea of having a look similar to the old dapper mugshots from the 1920’s. This was shot in natural light against a fence next to my building. The light falls down between two brick houses and just bounces around. I actually really love shooting in this area and have used it before in these shots
It was such a beautiful autumn day that I wanted to take advantage of the sun hitting the autumn foliage, so popped out onto my street to shoot a few of Master Cameron looking dapper in his suit. I don’t normally shoot much outside, but it’s always good to have a play outside my comfort zone and I am aiming to do a bit more outdoors in 2015.
Eventually we headed inside to shoot some harder studio light – these I edited to give an old Hollywood type feel.
