It might feel super awkward

I get it!

I'm awkward too

I have an annoying gimpy lazy eye, my smile is crooked, and I have chronic resting bitch face.
Trust that I will do my utmost to put you at ease so you can relax and have great time.

I want to show you that even if it feels like an effort to put yourself in front of the camera, that I’VE GOT YOU!
It might feel super awkward, but trust me that together we will create images that you will be proud to share.

Being in front of the camera can mean

And I know how that feels!
I want to work with you in your photography session to make you feel as comfortable as possible, when it can sometimes be quite confronting. And it can be challenging when I am asking you to be vulnerable and open up to me.

There is nothing better than looking through client images from a photoshoot session, and seeing them open up and suddenly shine, showing their true uninhibited selves.
Capturing your essence.

The beauty that everyone else sees when they know and love you.

But capturing your essence matters to me

I’ve always loved flicking through old photo albums, looking at the visual history of my own family and talking about the stories behind the images.

But I also understand why you hesitate to be present in photographs. It’s easier to hide and not have to open up or feel like you’re being vulnerable.

Let me show you who you are. Let me hold the mirror so you can see what it is everyone else sees in you.

I understand the hesitation, the excuses, because I have always made them for myself.
And so I have started taking my own advice, by creating birthday portraits of myself each year.

More about Angela McConNell

I’m a kiwi ex-pat, from Whanganui a provincial town on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand.
I followed my dream of backpacking around Europe where I met my future husband on a bus tour.

I moved to Australia to be with my husband in 2003, where we lived for 10 years in Canberra. Then to Melbourne where my passion for photography was reignited.

In 2012, we took the plunge and followed my husband’s career to Toronto in Canada.

We moved to Vancouver, BC  in 2016, and it feel so good to reconnect with nature. Particularly the ocean and mountains.

Our apartment is shared with two crazy cats, Perrin and Obsidian. And where I cultivate my indoor jungle passion with trailing plants, in particular variagated hoyas.

About their photography experience with Angela

Dagmar from Courage Space coaching smiling at the camera during a branding session by Vancouver business portrait and branding photographer Angela McConnell
Angela was an absolute pleasure to work with from the moment I booked the session to receiving my photo. She was very professional through the whole process and proved to be very knowledgable as a professional photographer.
I appreciated the time she took prior to the session and her openness to fully understand what I wanted. And during my photo shoot, Angela skillfully helped me relax, have fun and enjoy the process. What stood out for me was the personal connection I felt when working with Angela, which made the experience so much more personal and enjoyable.
I would highly recommend Angela to anyone looking for a personal and authentic photo of themselves. Thanks again Angela, I’m looking forward to my next photo shoot with you outdoors somewhere!

It was lovely to work with Angela – an all around amazing experience.  Angela is very easy to talk to, gives great instruction and made me feel more comfortable on the day than I thought possible. The finished pics are beautiful and I am grateful. I can highly recommend Angela – she does brilliant work!

Angela is a true professional. She took the time to get to know me and my needs before she attended my event, then arrived, got down to business and provided me with the most lovely images of my retreat, all while seeming like she wasn’t even there.   I was so grateful for attention to detail and for creating such a positive emotion within all of her pictures!  I will definitely be using some of these shots for future advertising.   Even coming from out of town, she arrived on time, got down to work and left without being noticed.  The process for communicating online was easy and she had images available for me within a week.  So fabulous!
