My birthday self portraits for 2016, where I challenge myself to document a more raw and unfiltered version than in previous years.

So it’s that time of year again, and so time to do my birthday portraits.
 I started taking self portraits when I was 34. Some years they are pretty much just head shots, and an opportunity to try new light set ups.

The last two years I have decided to do a more creative portrait as well as updating my head shot for use on my website and social media presence.

Last year, my portraits were in between Geoff’s 2nd and 3rd surgeries and was in a bit of weird place. I wasn’t coping and felt really vulnerable and really I felt like the portrait reflected that.

This year, I am super intimidated by my portrait. I knew I wanted to do something a bit more raw, but it’s so hard to see myself with no makeup and showing all my freckles (which I have never liked).
So here they are….I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about them, but that’s ok.
