Norma is challenging the current perception of women aging in society, by writing a book about collective experiences of thriving as an older woman.

I met Norma at a networking group and knew straight away I wanted to photograph her.
She also has THE most beautiful smile

Norma is a social worker, author, speaker and workshop facilitator.
She has over 25 years experience as a social worker in community health and social service agencies, rehabilitation centers and continuing care hospitals.

She is currently in the process of writing a book to challenge the perceptions of women aging in society.

Why are women considered invisible, unable to start new careers or limited in continuing education once they reach a "certain age"

Norma hopes to empower women to take control of their life, live it to their fullest potential through inspiring stories and tips.

I am particularly interested in the concept of the independent urban family which encourages older single women to live in a supportive community.

Norma has written a bit about her story

Recently, I have been on a journey I would say thinking more about my future and how I could adjust and thrive as an older woman.

So I thought it would be interesting and beneficial to reach out to other women in the same demographic. I attended various events which were both social as well as educational.
I learned a lot, met some interesting women and were inspired by them.

As these experiences were helpful to me I thought that they could be helpful to other women in this age group. So when I was presented with the opportunity to write a book I decided to write on the this topic.

Surprisingly, the actual process of writing the book is proving to be very helpful to me both emotionally and in a practical sense.
So I hope that it will also be helpful as well as inspiring to other women. These are some of the reasons motivating me to continue the process for myself, as well as for others.
