At an event to mark the end of the summer season, women in the Vancouver tech industry gathered for a night of networking, discussion and fun.

Summer in Canada really does fly by, and as I type this in September, sadly the rainy autumn days are starting to set in.
Luckily the Women in Tech End of Summer Networking Party was held at the end of August on an absolutely stunning and balmy evening.

Hosted by Central 1 – overlooking Granville St bridge and the downtown Vancouver skyline, women from many areas of the tech industry (as well as other male dominated fields) gathered to network.

Speed mentoring

After networking, catching up with friends and colleagues the group moved inside.

Here each group representative at the event introduced themselves, who their group serviced. And how they help or support women in tech in Vancouver.

Then there was a fun speed mentoring activity. Like speed networking activities, this aimed to match attendees with a mentor, by having them identify what they wanted mentoring in, or how they could mentor someone else.

There were so many animated discussions going on during this activity. So I am sure that there were some mentor partnerships made or amazing collaborations hatched!

Fun fact

As I was carrying my phone during this event it also tracked the number of steps I took. Over the course of nearly 3 hours, I covered around 3km distance!
